Flash Paddle: Rice Creek - Fisher Island

Place: Meet at Conoco Station at I-65 & Hwy 225 (exit 31). We will drive north to the Rice Creek boat launch.

Comments: This will be a fairly easy paddle of about 5.5 miles, crossing Tensaw River to Jessamine Bayou and circling Fisher Island. Once finished paddling, and for those interested, we will end up at Stagecoach for a late lunch. Bring along fluids, snacks, pfd, etc.

Directions: Head north on 225 for 12.5 mi., turn left at stop sign on CR 86, go 0.8 mi. to Y, take right fork and go 2 mi.

We will meet at Bruno's at 9:30 AM and go to Hurricane Landing to put in. You may drive directly there and meet at 10:00 AM. The trip will travel up Hurricane Bayou and back for an approx. total of 6 mi. and about 3 hours. You may want to bring lunch or a snack and fluids. There may be a $3 put-in fee, although the last two times I was there, there was no one there to collect. Call if you have any questions or to confirm last minute plans re: weather, although rain should hold off until evening.

Comments: Please call or email me in advance, so I can get an approx. count.

We will meet at Lambert's and travel down Hwy. 59 to Gulf Shores, turn right on Hwy. 180 and go out to mile marker 4, before Ft. Morgan. On the right (north - bay side) is parking and put-in for St. Andrews Bay.

We will put in approx. 10:30 and head NE to Little Point Clear along the shore. Either on the way out or back we will explore some of the several long sloughs, stopping to eat lunch.

I anticipate an approx. distance of 8-10 miles at a moderate speed. Please bring food, hydration and prepare for weather/temp variations. We plan to take-out at approx. 4:00 PM.
