Comments: Boiling Creek is in Eglin Air Force Base, which requires a permit to use the base for recreation.

Whiskey Ditch

Okatoma Paddle

Comments: Mark wants a response from those of us who would like to paddle the Okatoma. Give him a call if you did not make your wishes known on his list at the April club meeting. The Okatoma has class I whitewater, and maybe class II.

The Monet Paddle: Bay Minette Basin

Place: Put in at Buzbee's Fish Camp, on U.S. 225 north of Spanish Fort, under the south end of the bridge over Bay Minette Creek.
Comments: Just as Monet painted the same bridge each month to capture the changing seasons, Matt has decided to lead a paddle to the same destination each month. $3 fee to launch.

Adventure Race - Paddle, Run (Walk), Bike
Date: Saturday May 8, 2004

Place: Fairhope yacht Club
Comments: On the preliminary run of the Adventure Race course, almost 90% of the starting kayaks successfully returned. With such a high completion rate, we are announcing the real Adventure Race. Categories: Paddle-Walk, Bike-Walk, Bike-Run-Paddle (This is a two person team event with one kayak and one bike per team). And a final Ironman category for those who want to be their own teammate: Paddle-Run-Bike-Bike-Run-Paddle. All categories start and end at the Yacht Club. Non - participants are welcome to help on the racecourse and/or join us for the pot-luck. More details to follow at the May meeting.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Harriet (cell 604-3741) is taking orders for club ballcaps at $6.00 each. She wants to finish by April 12.

Watch for after work paddle opportunities now that we are on daylight saving time.

Thank you, Keith, from the State Lands Management office for the presentation of the state of the Bartram Canoe Trails and camping platforms. The platforms will be available by reservation and a Swamp Fee will be charged. No reservations
are required for land site camping at the two authorized campsites. The platforms are built but they are not in place yet. Stay tuned for news about the platforms.
