It has taken me (Julie) about six months to get pretty well burned out on (1) writing and editing the content for the club website and e-mails, as well as (2) dealing with the technical aspects and problems of running the club website and e-mail list. The first club member I asked immediately volunteered to take task number 1 off my hands.
The fact that he is my best friend and boyfriend had nothing to do with it. :-) On the contrary, I believe that Bruce's spirit of helpfulness is consistent with the generous spirit of the club as a whole!
In the future, please include Bruce in the gratitude you have so graciously directed at me for handling club communications. His e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
For what it's worth, I personally think it would be great if somebody would start a snail-mail and/or phone-tree newsletter and news update service for the club. We have several people in the club who aren't on-line and several more who don't know enough about navigating the Internet to find what they need on-line without my help. A paper newsletter would be a welcome alternative to my giving free computer lessons to club members. All that would be necessary is for some volunteer to print what Bruce and I are already writing, put a stamp on it, address it, and mail it, along with whatever else they want to mail. If you have the capacity to print address labels from your computer, please consider volunteering for this job. I'll bet the snail-mail list would not exceed 20 people and that the club would be glad to pass the hat for the paper and postage.
