To learn more about efforts to save the old "Monroe Park" site (a historically and ecologically significant green space on the Mobile waterfront) from development as an industrial container facility, check out http://www.fammed.usouthal.edu/Garrow%20show_files/frame.htm. This is a PowerPoint presentation that has been uploaded to the Web by the Committee to Save Historic Monroe Park. It takes forever to download if, like me, all you have is a modem, but it is worth the wait. And I imagine that those of you with faster "broadband" access will find it even more worthwhile to take a look at it.

Thanks to Allen Perkins, of the Committee to Save Historic Monroe Park, for sending me the link to this slideshow. He can be e-mailed at djuzan@earthlink.net if you would like further information.
